Nobody Does Defense Better Than Huskies
CHICAGO (The Hartford Courant) — It turns out that a shutdown defense isn't just a state of mind, it's a matter of perception for some. And not even 62 consecutive victories can easily alter it.
No one in women's college basketball plays better defense than No.1 UConn. The eyes confirm it, the numbers support it, the opponents attest to it.
The latest: Louisville coach Jeff Walz.
"They're fantastic on the defensive end of the floor. They do a fantastic job of guarding on the ball," Walz said. "If you do get by them, your reward for that is trying to score over Tina Charles. You're like 'Wow, great, I finally got past somebody and now she's standing there in front of me.' They've got a very good presence."
Still, there apparently are varying degrees of domination.
