STORRS — In some respects, Caroline Doty's basketball career reads like a Russian novel, except one wouldn't expect Tolstoy or Dostoevsky to summon cruel fate to torture a young woman.
But you turn the pages and discover the high degree of pain, disappointment and solitude. It's cold and snowy where Doty lives, too. But the main character — that would be the UConn junior guard — is of high character, blessed with indomitable spirit, firm in her goals and determined to meet them no matter the struggle.
